Poetic Post Punk/ Gloomy Grunge from Düsseldorf
More Frills can mean a lot of things. More sparkle, dreaminess, and chimes, for instance; or more noise and undefined sonic rawness. It certainly means more fuzz, but that goes without saying.
At times, it might appear gloomy or grungy with a taste of glitter; or the other way around. It goes well with all sorts of post punk that feed that certain level of nostalgia which looks best wearing big hair and layers of black in dark and sticky basements.
Most importantly, though, it’s deeply poetic, and radical at that; having dived into 20th century poetry one too many times. And speaking of diving – it’s about that as well; the feeling of letting go and getting lost in the wall of sound, gazing at shoes, dancing to dark wave and singing doo wop harmonies,
most likely at the same time.
Created and served by no more than two humans, it’s also minimalistic: an electric guitar, a grumbling bass, the occasional cello, a bunch of pedals and a snotty, yet melodic soprano reciting fearless poems, not songs, with that extra bit of frills.
